Alexandra petted as many as she could, namely because I told her they were in other people's yards and weren't ours for the picking. But then I found a section of earth on the other side of the sidewalk that was blanketed by orange and yellow wildflowers. I picked four for Alexandra, and she picked three for herself.
Needless to say, her enthusiasm for taking those flowers home was unparalleled. But I promised her we'd keep them, and that I would put them in water. Since she skipped saving the stems and just went right for the heads, I had to switch out a vase for a little bowl. Thank goodness my mother bought me a coco egg cup in France, because it's the perfect size for trying to revive mangled flowers.
They look, um, a little perked up, sure. But this is Alexandra's bouquet and so it's absolutely perfect and makes mine look basic and boring.
Mommy daughter bouquets are pretty much the raddest thing ever, though.
